About

A living archive of ordinary people's history

Textbooks record the dates. The Memory Box records what it felt like: the kitchen, the radio, the phone call, the person beside you. Where you stood, how old you were, what you believed: every perspective adds something, so that someone, someday, can understand what this was really like.

Two archives, one memory

The public archive

Your memory sits beside others, each from a different perspective. Together they show how ordinary people lived through history, traditions and everyday life.

Your personal archive

Every memory you add while signed in is saved privately to your own lifetime collection, including memories on private walls and ones awaiting review. It grows with every story, and one day you'll be able to turn it into a keepsake book for your family.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a question

Choose a moment in history, a tradition, a team, a faith or an ordinary part of life you remember.

  2. 2

    Add your memory

Write, add photos or record your voice. No account needed, and nothing has to be polished.

  3. 3

    Shared and kept

Your memory sits beside many others, each from a different perspective, so readers can see the whole picture. Signed in, it's also saved to your personal archive.

Communities

Public walls gather fans, faiths and hometowns around shared memories, with one wall for each community and a host who looks after its questions. Families and groups can start a private wall that only invited members see, with the option to approve each member.

Your story, your choice

  • One optional credit line. Leave it blank and your memory is anonymous.
  • Exact locations are never shown publicly. Maps show only a state or country.
  • You decide whether readers can share a link to your story.
  • Comments are paused for now, so the archive stays a calm, kind place.
  • Read the full privacy statement.

Free to keep

Adding and keeping your memories is always free. Communities have simple plans. See pricing.
