Traditions & Faith

The meals, prayers, holidays and rituals that mark a year or a lifetime — how they were kept, how they changed, and what they still mean.

Traditions & Faith question

What's the Rosh Hashanah you remember most?

The sound of the shofar. A recipe or ritual passed down to you. The person who taught you how to celebrate. A table full of family, or one that felt too quiet. A year that looked different than you expected. Or something about the holiday you understand differently now. Share one memory or your whole story.

Traditions & Faith question

What's a Halloween memory or tradition from your childhood?

Think back to a costume someone sewed by hand, or one you threw together at the last minute. The neighborhood everyone went to for the best candy. A house that scared you. Carving pumpkins at the kitchen table. Trading candy with your siblings on the living room floor. Or a family tradition you still keep today. Share one memory or many. The small details are what make it yours.

Traditions & Faith question

Who from your family’s past do you wish the next generation could meet, and what memory or story would bring them to life?

A familiar recipe, a photograph on an altar, a name spoken around the table: remembering can make someone feel close again. Día de los Muertos, All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day, Qingming, Obon and many other traditions offer ways to honor those who came before us. You do not need to observe a holiday to take part. Remember an ancestor or loved one through a moment you shared, a story passed down to you, or a small ritual that keeps them present. Tell us what made them themselves, and what you hope someone will remember.

Traditions & Faith question

What's the Thanksgiving you remember most, and what made it feel like Thanksgiving?

Picture the kitchen that morning. The dish someone always brought, and the one nobody touched. The game on in the other room, the parade on TV, the kids' table you couldn't wait to leave. A year when the house was full, or one when it was just a few of you. A Friendsgiving far from home, or a holiday spent on duty. Share one memory or many. The small details are what make it yours.
